F.P. Journe Centigraphe Souverain Review

F.P. Journe Centigraphe Souverain Rose Gold

With F.P. Journe watch is always a special moment. Journe always create unique both for their design and their technical content.

Recently,  we have one most complicated chronometer of the collection – the Centigraphe Souverain which represents the essence of François-Paul Journe’s work.

This model was originally released in 2007 and was one of the first watches to have a chronograph measuring 1/100th of a second. You can now find other brands, like Zenith Defy El Primero 21 with same 1/100th second.

The Centigraphe come with speical chronograph layout of the dial. In addition to the classical hour and minute’s, indication in the centre, the chronograph function is separated into 3 sub-dials. The first one on the top left indicates the
100th of a second; the second one on the top right indicates a 20 seconds time scale; and the last one on the bottom of the dial is graduated for 10 minutes. The tachometer scales convert time units for 1 km into speeds from 6 km/h to 36.000 km/h.

The Centigraphe has two balance wheels, one control the centigraphe while the other normal timing. Since the systems are separate, it allows precision while reducing friction on the movement. The start & stop pusher of F.P. Journe has
designed the Centigraphe to feature a rocker switch.

Watch is made of 18k rose gold with matching dial. There are some diffetnet dial and material combination such as red gold/platinum with silver dial or black dial, balck label edition and Sport with aluminum dial and titanium case.

Wearing the watch on the wrist, it combines both sport and elegance style. The watch is a reasonably sized dressing watch with 40mm datmeter and its height of 10.7mm. The watch features a matching 18k rose gold tang buckle, allowing for a quick adjustment on the fly.

Most of Journe piece are not too heavy on the wrist, it’s quite comfortable. The weight of the watch was just enough.

Centigraphe equiped with 1506 movemnet which is built on a solid gold. As there are come with two balance wheels, so the watch has an approximate 80 hour power reserve when the chronograph turn off. Power will be drastically reduced when chronograph turn on that’s why we always recommended to wind the watch before engaging the chronograph
