It equips rectangular chronograph push buttons, and a screw down winding crown. The 38mm diameter solid three-body case, curved lugs, and flat angled stepped bezel, are polished/brushed.
The dial is black with luminous Arabic numeral hour markers and square pips around a perimeter railway-style minute/second scale. It has luminous dauphine hands, a luminous center sweep chronograph seconds hand, and there is a fourth luminous hand with a red arrow tip for the elapsed minutes. It has twin subsidiary dials with luminous white railway-style scales, Arabic numerals, and luminous sword indicator hands, including a 24-hour totalizer at 9 o’clock, and there is a running small constant seconds register at the 3 o’clock position. It has a 42-hour power reserve at full winding, it’s water resistant to 50 meters/165 feet, and the 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.
This Girard Perregaux “Vintage 1960” Chronograph 2598 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Girard Perregaux caliber 2280 (base ETA caliber 2892-A2) movement modified with a Dubois-Dupraz 2021 chronograph module. It’s rhodium-plated, with Cote de Geneve embellishment, and it’s constructed with 44 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a self-compensating flat balance spring, blued screws, a hacking seconds device for precision time setting, and a micrometer regulator. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
